The ancient story of Matariki has been shared by Māori families for generations. So, in 2018, we decided to use social media to show how the words might come alive today. Teaming up with the Morrison whanau, composer Montell Pinny and astronomer Dr Rangi Matamua, we worked with Spark to create a charming film that would share the magic of the story with New Zealand.

Narrated entirely in te reo Māori, the short film would go on to become Spark’s most successful social post ever.

Limited edition glow-in-the-dark Matariki star sticker DM packs were also produced to reward some of Spark's loyal followers.
